Podcast recording
Hosts, guests and co-presenters sit at a round table with individual mics, headphones and an engineer who watches levels and takes — so you can focus on the conversation.

Listeners stick around when voices are clear and even, without someone riding faders mid-sentence. At Mordancyedge in Amsterdam-Oost, producers, editorial teams and in-house comms book studio time before they edit, publish or hand files to an external show runner. We deliver clean audio and a basic edit; full sound design, music licensing and distribution stay outside this service unless quoted.
The setup targets two to four people in one room, with talkback from the control room. Roughly 28 mics are available; for talk formats we use broadcast arms, pop filters and a separate headphone mix per speaker. For home-room acoustics, see podcast room setup basics; general questions live in FAQ.
Rates on this page are indicative; your quote after contact is binding. We usually reply within 2 business days. Booking requires a 30% deposit; free rescheduling up to 7 days before start — terms and conditions. Hours: Monday–Friday 10:00–19:00, Saturday 11:00–17:00. Closed on Sunday. Sessions outside these hours on request.
Process
- 01
Brief
You outline voice count, target length, intro/outro and whether you want raw tracks or a basic edit. We block time and a mic layout that fits the episode.
- 02
Arrival
Check-in at Wibautstraat 137, headphone comfort, mic distance and a short level pass per voice. Allow ten to fifteen minutes before rolling.
- 03
Record
Conversation with monitoring and markers on restarts. The engineer keeps levels stable and notes where a take begins again.
- 04
Delivery
Per-speaker files or stereo mixdown plus basic edit as agreed. Secure download; 24-month archive unless your quote says otherwise.
Who this service is for
Interview shows with rotating guests, internal team podcasts, two-host editorial formats, and creators moving off wall-mounted home mics toward a calmer dialogue sound — that fits Podcast recording here. Companies recording an episode for internal use (not invented awards or case studies) can book a block too.
We focus on capture and light assembly, not writing scripts or booking guests. Solo voice without a panel may suit vocal recording better; mention the format on contact. Under-16 participants need a parent/guardian who signs and stays on site — terms and conditions.
Room, table and mics
The podcast area uses a round table with foam and rug to tame reflections — similar to what you see in Mordancyedge photos, not a copy of your spare bedroom. Each speaker gets a dedicated channel, which simplifies edit later compared with one mic in the middle.
We pick capsules and preamps for spoken word: less aggressive proximity than rap vocals, enough presence for earbuds. Sibilance and plosives get angle and distance tweaks before the real conversation starts. Bring your own in-ears if everyone shares a compatible system.
Monitoring and room etiquette
Everyone hears themselves and the others in headphones, with per-person trim. Talkback from the control room covers “one more line” without leaving the table. The engineer watches clipping, crosstalk and accidental mic bumps — and drops session markers where a chapter restarts.
Quiet helps: phones on silent, loose jewellery minimised, water on the table. Pauses are normal. If you have a hard stop after our slot, build buffer in your calendar — we finish on time when the next client waits.
What to send ahead
Send a short rundown: title, estimated duration, host and guest count, language, and whether intro music arrives as a separate file. We need audio plans more than logo packs. Existing jingles should be WAV without heavy limiting so we keep headroom.
For business jobs: billing details and PO numbers before the session speed up admin. First-time guests may want five extra minutes to get used to the mic — include that in total time. Prep tips: our podcast room guide.
Basic edit and what sits outside it
The up-to-60-minute episode rate includes a basic edit: sensible in/out points, one continuous conversation line per voice or a stereo mix, and obvious false starts before the real chat removed. Heavy ums/ahs removal, jingle production or podcast loudness mastering are not default — see mastering or your own pipeline.
Edit feedback works as one bundled list per round, like mix/master practice: 2 rounds when included on the quote. Extra rounds or re-recording half an episode bill as €115 or a fresh episode package.
Files, turnaround and archive
Default delivery is 24-bit WAV per stem at 48 kHz, plus an optional stereo reference for quick review. You handle MP3 for publish unless you explicitly ask for a agreed bitrate export. Basic edit turnaround is typically a few business days within Mon–Fri 10–19, Sat 11–17, queue dependent; rush only when confirmed in writing.
Sessions stay on our systems for 24 months, then delete unless you buy extension. Download inside that window and keep your own copies. Raw multitrack remains available for re-edit while the archive runs.

FAQ
How many people at once?
Usually two to four at the table with workable monitoring. Larger casts may need rotation or longer setup — describe your lineup on contact so we plan mic count and time across 3 rooms realistically.
Do you record remote guests on Zoom?
Our focus is in-person capture in Amsterdam. Internet guests add quality risk; we prefer guests in studio or you record remote separately and sync later. Discuss hybrid needs in writing first.
What exactly is basic edit?
Coherent takes, trimming clear false starts before the interview, export as agreed. Deep dialogue edit, line-by-line noise reduction or music under speech is custom at €115 or a separate quote.
Can I take raw files only?
Yes — at €115 you can book multitrack-only and edit yourself. Say “raw only” when booking so we do not reserve edit time.
How does the season pack work?
Eight episodes at €2,480 with dates planned ahead within Mon–Fri 10–19, Sat 11–17. Miss a slot and terms and conditions cancellation rules apply; replacement dates via [email protected] in consultation.
